This week we explored the theme of Authenticity in our daily sessions. Bloom Pause is a community offering that meets remotely using Zoom. Each week we explore a new theme through discussion, sharing, meditation and practices to improve daily life. If you'd like to join Bloom Pause, sign up here.
In Brene' Brown's book The Gifts of Imperfection, she offers 10 guideposts for cultivating wholehearted living. Each of these guideposts suggests letting go of something towards cultivating a gift. The first guidepost is: Cultivating authenticity by letting go of what people think.
"Authenticity is not something we have or don't have. It's a practice - a conscious choice of how we want to live... it is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's the choice to show up and be real.. to be honest ... and let our true selves be seen." Brene Brown
Let's consider the root of the word authentic being the same as the word author. Consider being the author of one's life - one's own unique experience. What would this mean for you? What kind of legacy do you want to grow and leave that is uniquely yours?
Being authentic and letting of what people think in a whole hearted way is not the same as doing so from a place of ego. From a wholehearted place, it is being true and safe in a manner that allows others to be true and safe as well. It is valuing oneself in equal measure to others. It is realness with while respecting in the highest way, other's realness too. It's not power over or under or even through - it is shared empowerment - holding oneself as well as others as powerful from a place of love.
Being true to who you are and letting of what people think that's preventing living in alignment with this truth takes courage. Be Brave. It's wellworth it.
How are you being called to live?
What prevents you from heeding this call?
What supports showing up allowing your true self to be seen?
Call in Awareness.
Notice what's happening within ...
I Am Aware of my breath with Love ...
I Am Aware of my body with Love ...
Consider what you're being called to express ...
Try these words out loud:
I surrender to the wisdom of my soul...
I plant seeds of intention according to my soul's desire...
I offer this to the Divine for the optimal outcome.
I offer gratitude as if it has already occurred.
