This week we explored the theme of Core Worthiness in our daily sessions. Bloom Pause is a community offering that meets remotely using Zoom. Each week we explore a new theme through discussion, sharing, meditation and practices to improve daily life. If you'd like to join Bloom Pause, sign up here.
In our sessions we discussed the four styles of behaviors that people tend to use to to feel worthy known as the "4 Hustles of Worthiness" from Brene Brown's research cited in her book The Gifts of Imperfection:
If we want to fully experience love and belonging, we must believe that we are worthy of love and belonging. Our sense of worthiness, that critically important piece that gives us access to love and belonging, lives inside of our story. The greatest challenge for most of us is believing that we are worthy now, right this minute, as we are. Many of us believe and are conditioned to believe that we are only worthy if or when. But, in truth, worthiness does not have prerequisites. However, so many have knowingly created, or unknowingly allowed or have been handed down and conditioned to believe a long list of worthiness prerequisites.
I invite you to reflect on the following prerequisite statements:
I'll be worthy when....
I'll be worthy if....
1. What have been your prerequisites for worthiness?
2. Which of the four Ps do you find yourself doing in order to secure feeling worthy?
3. What if this were no longer necessary?
4. What if you believed that you are worthy now, not if or when?
5. What could this allow for in your life?
Try this mantra:
I am worthy now.
Not if. Not when.
I am worthy as I am.
